New Year Priorities....

So, The New Year has started at full speed--kind of like the old year ended.  And it seems that there are always a million things that we can fill our lives with--and so many of them are good things. But, are they the best things for you?  Are there better things that you are missing, neglecting, forgetting, or passing by?
As our presidnecy has reviewed the questionnaires that we have been passing out for the past month, we saw a scary trend....a lack of dailypersonal scripture study among our sisters.  While it seems that almost everyone regards their daily prayer as important, our scriptures may be gathering dust on a shelf, and if they are, our concern is the same as that of the Prophets, who tell us:

“If we’re not reading the scriptures daily, our testimonies are growing thinner [and] our spirituality isn’t increasing in depth”  (--Harold B. Lee)

Sister Ann Dibb counseled in the Young Women's Broadcast last April:

"Heavenly Father knows our individual journeys are not easy. We are faced every day with situations that require courage and strength.
At the moment, these four guides—prayer, obedience to God’s commandments, daily scripture study, and a commitment to follow the living prophet—may seem like small and simple things. Let me remind you of the scripture found in Alma: “Behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass” (Alma 37:6). When applied in our everyday lives, these four “small and simple” guides from the book of Joshua will combine to provide the most powerful source of courage and strength there is: faith in our Heavenly Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ."

Start today to make the Savior your priority, by not just speaking to Him through prayer, but LISTENING to what He has to say through His own words and those of His Prophets of all generations, found in the scriptures.
Love,
Sister Perkins
